Hey…the season is over for softball. We had a great last game against Brian Timberlake’s team. We were down 22 – 10 in the last inning and we came back to tie the game 22 – 22….the umpires called it a tie due to not enough daylight to continue the game. It was a great and fun game!
Next year in the Spring, we will contact all players again to see if want to play again. It will not a one-pitch league…it will be normal softball league.
For now, we are looking for people who are interested in joining a basketball team. It starts up in November or around that time. if you are interested, please email me at sdye@secc.org and we will put together a team. So far I know Brad, Vernon, Derrick, myself, Eugene, Donnie, Eddie and 2 more I cannot remember are interested.
It was fun playing softball with you guys and hope that you enjoyed it too! God bless to all!

For those of you who do not know how to read softball stats and don’t know what the numbers mean or what that category is. Here is an explanation:
“AB” stands for At-Bats meaning how many times you go up to home plate with that bat to ready to hit.
“Hits” stands for Hits as in how many time you hit the ball safely without an out. If you hit the ball and you are out, it does not count as a hit. For example, if you bat and you hit the ball but you are out at first base..you will have 1 “AB” but have 0 hits…. in order for this number to increase, you must hit the ball safely and get on base without getting an out.
“BA” stands for Batting Average. This is done by using the math formula “Hits” divided “AB” meaning if you have 1 hit and have gone up to bat 2 times…1 divided by 2 is .5 Batting averages are always in three decimal places meaning .500
“RBI” stands for Runs Batted In… meaning if you bat and you hit the ball and another runner who is already on base scores a run, you will be given a RBI for that.
“Walks” is the number of walks you get by not swinging or hitting the ball at home plate. You watch the ball, the umpire gives you the walk. A walk will not count as an AB because you did not swing the bat.
“SAC” stands for sacrifice as in when you swing and get an out but the runners on base move to another base, you are given a “SAC” mark. WHen you have a SAC, it will not count as an AB because you was swinging the bat to move the runners for better chance for scoring more runs for your team.
“RUNS” stands for Runs as in how many times you touch all bases to add runs to your team’s score.
I will add more stats when the season picks up more games such as doubles, triples, homeruns. Hope this is helpful.
